NITROGEN (COMPRESSED GAS) ICSC: 1198
IMPORTANT DATA
PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
ODOURLESS, COLOURLESS COMPRESSED GAS

PHYSICAL DANGERS:
Gas mixes readily with air.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV: Simple asphyxiant; (ACGIH 2004).
ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation.

INHALATION RISK:
On loss of containment this gas can cause suffocation by lowering the oxygen content of the air in confined areas. See Notes.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Boiling point: -196C
Melting point: -210C
Solubility in water: poor
Relative vapour density (air = 1): 0.97
ENVIRONMENTAL DATA

NOTES
High concentrations in the air cause a deficiency of oxygen with the risk of unconsciousness or death. Check oxygen content before entering area.
Card has been partly updated in April 2005. See sections Emergency Response, Occupational Exposure Limits.
